VICTORIAN UFO hunters are sitting exams to better equip themselves to investigate some of the nation’s most baffling cases.

Their course could even become part of TAFE curriculum so anyone with an interest in the unexplained could become qualified.

It comes as fresh details emerge over a bizarre incident in the sky above Bacchus Marsh last year.

Members of Victorian UFO Action have accused authorities of a cover-up as they seek answers about exactly happened that night.

Video and pictures they obtained show a glowing disc-shaped object darting across the horizon and occasionally hovering in one spot. The group claims a military helicopter was seen following its flight path.

“The authorities knew there was something anomalous above Melbourne’s air space that evening and were powerless to intercept it,” VUFOA director Ben Hurle said.

“This event stands as an example that the skies of Victoria are visited by unknowns and that authorities are unwilling to admit it.”

The group also focuses on previously classified UFO-related files held by Australia’s military intelligence agencies and civil aviation bodies.

A 1966 cold case - a UFO encounter described by witnesses at Burke’s Flat in Victoria’s central northwest - has been reopened.

Mr Hurle said the group’s exam ensured members didn’t jump to conclusions.

He said there had been significant interest in the exam and they were in talks to have it included as part of the TAFE curriculum.

“Victoria had a long history of UFO research but it died off,” Mr Hurle said.

“We are bringing it back and creating a process so people can do it with credibility.’’
